I am bad

I know I haven't posted here in a while and I am sorry but I have been doing art! just at another place, The Daily Art Brigade A blog I started up with a few other people with just the idea that if you want to get better you should be doing work every day, and if you join, thats what you gotta do. anyways I figure I should at least post something I have been doing over the past few days so I dont totally forget about this place. I have been reading the comic book the goon lately and I really love it. some fantastic artwork and writing. Anyways when I saw the trailer for the upcoming film by BLUR I just couldnt stop myself from doing a drawing. Still in progress but I have been having fun making it so far.

its finals week, and i am almost through, just one more class to go and this semester is a wrap. just a few more days... ugghh

ill post some art once i am finished with all this work.

also tf2 update is coming out and I am looking forward to playing a ton of that over the break.

went to a gesture drawing workshop today, wow i am terrible at it. definitely going to work on that more.

also, i read this little list of things to think about when you are drawing done by prom, so its worth a read for just that alone!

I just came across this webcomic the other day, and i think it is hilarious! you should read it too! its a comic about a hipster guy who is in a video game, and it parodies a lot of video game conventions and hipster douches. He pretty much acts the way people play games in real life. The picture above is one of the pages i find particularly funny.

Back from Vacation!

I am back! I had a good time, It was nice to get away for a bit but of course I am glad to be back home. I did a lot of stuff while I was gone like go to the Seattle Art Museum where I saw an exhibit of some Andrew Wyeth artworks, which were AMAZING. Incredible artist, big bummer that he is dead. I ate a lot of fish and chips, yum, I beat mario galaxy on the wii, I went and saw Twisted Flix, which is where this improve group shows some terrible old scifi film and they dub over the audio and ad in their own voices and music and sound effects live while the film is playing, based on suggestions from the audience. I have only been to it 2 times but you can buy dvds of past tapeings from them and they are pretty much all very funny, especially if you like bad movies. I finally read the Road which was fantastic, but terribly bleak and depressing pretty much the whole way through, and honestly I had to stop reading multiple times towards the last couple of chapters, because I knew if I kept on reading I would cry, and when you are in a car with your family members that's pretty embarrassing. Seriously though if you are not crying or almost crying by the end of that book, you are a heartless monster. Since I could not make it to Comic-con this year I bought and read a bunch of comic books, which include, Blade of the Immortal volume 3, they didn't have volume 2, but lucky for me the story really isn't hindered. Blade of the Immortal is pretty much the only Manga type book I read, the art is beautiful and the fights are awesome and even the story holds up, I can tell Samurai Champloo draws a lot from this series. Definitely give this one a try if only for the nice art. I also got Powers, which I have been hearing for a long time is a great series, and after reading the first trade, I am definitely interested in seeing where this story goes. Powers is about a couple of police officers who solve crimes involving super heroes. I usually tend to stay away from the capes and cowls side of comic books, but this one is pretty good. I also bought 2 trades of Walking Dead, which is excellent as usual. As I was reading those 2 I was drawing A LOT of comparisons between the road and walking dead, especially where I stopped reading Walking Dead, which is volume 8, that book ends pretty much the same way the road begins. I really didn't want to read walking dead because the road was such a downer, and I knew walking dead would be more of that, and man I was right. I don't know why I am drawn to this type of stuff, these writers have no remorse and don't give a crap what they do to these poor characters. If they don't die a horrible death then they take a limb or take part of their sanity. At times I wish Walking Dead sucked so I could stop reading it, but I cant, its like the LOST addiction, I got to see these people through! I got to keep on reading and hope they make it out alright.

I still had a lot of fun on my vacation despite such grim reading material. I can't wait for the road film, and I am definitely looking for more issues of walking dead.


P.S.

here is a trailer for "The Road" as well as some pictures of the comic books I got. The trailer makes the movie seem more actiony then the book, but it is the trailer, and they always edit that stuff to hook as many people in as they can.

Rhino

Squeezed out one last drawing before I leave to washington. I read a bit about rhinos today. Very sad some of them are almost extinct, protect the rhinos!

Conquistador + Vacation time

Just a quick experiment/fun drawing. a LOT of stuff wrong with it, but i dont care enough to fix it at the moment. i am pretty tired.

also, I am going to be gone for about 5 days, I am off to visit family in washington state. hopefully my laptop charger will arrive in the mail before i leave, which is tomorrow, so i can bring my laptop. chances are slim though.

finally turned them in today. hopefully ill have them all printed by next week, i am pretty excited to see how they turn out.

Just some random crap you don't care about; I read Scott Pilgrim 5 and it is seriously awesome and i am so pumped for the new movie that is coming out I don't know what I am going to do with myself until then. Read some more Walking Dead, which is always good. Saw Watchmen, which also was really good, but i was kinda disappointed in some parts. i would like to see it reshot with a different director at the helm. School is wraping up now, 2 more weeks left for me! that means crunch time. k thats enough boring stuff, go check out the scott pilgrim movie.

P.s. i finished okami finally, and unlocked everything except for invincibility, which is too hard to get.

its been one month since i last posted

today is friday the 13th, tomorrow is valentines day. how funny.

Happy Birthday to me!

Its my birthday today! i am now 19 years old. this is very cool. I got a nice desk as a present and i am currently reorganizeing my work area and once its all set up i shall take pictures for your enjoyment! huzzah! maybe some art too? ok sure some art.

I am playing Okami and Odin Sphere for the ps2, both are very beautiful games for different reasons, but so far only Okami has really grabbed me. I think i need to spend more time with odin sphere to get into it.

I also bought the trades 5 and 6 of The Walking Dead. It has been a long time since i last read trade 4 so my mind is kinda fuzzy on everything that happened, but its slowly coming back to me. Very cool stuff.

that's pretty much all i got to say, shower me with compliments and poems about my greatness because its my birthday. peace yo.


P.S. My cat just pooped and it is really the worst smelling thing i have ever smelled ever.

Trouble in video game land

A lof of crazyness has been happening lately in the world of video games. First of all, 1up gets bought out by UGO. Lots of people lose their jobs. Big ass bummer, I just hope everyone lands on their feet, maybe form their own site or maybe the giant bomb crew could scoop up a few, that would be fantastic I think. No more podcasts for me, which is very very very very very sad, but not as sad as whats happened to these people. Best of luck dudes.

secondly there is some crazyness going on with bobs game. A dude named Bob wants to make a nintendo ds game, or actually, apparently he did make one, and is waiting for nintendo to approve his license, so he can get some dev kit software. Nintendo is not approving him, and so now hes having a 100 day protest.

Some weird side effects of having a cold

One thing that ive noticed while living with this cold over the last week, is that I cough a LOT!
I have been coughing so much in fact, that my stomach area hurts all the time! I have been getting a serious workout with this cough, if this keeps up, ill be having rock hard tastey abs washerboard style.

anyways I hope i get over this before my birthday, because that would be a big bummer to be sick then.

I have been playing Fallout 3 and Farcry 2. Fallout 3 is awesome, If you can get past its many flaws, there is a lot of fun to be had in Farcry 2. I have been listening to some new music as well such as Tom Vek, Radio 4, Whitey, and The Mutts.

i have been listening to a lot of music lately, first a lot of garage rock type stuff like the black keys, the moony sazuki and stuff like that, then a little bit of neutral milk hotel, which i actually like a lot even though i thought i would hate them, but more then that stuff i have been listening to some older hip hop like Dr Octagon, and a few MF Doom cds i hadnt heard before. Dr octagon is such a cool rap name

Other then those things I have been doing lots of work for school. Its midterms this week so I am cramming right now. Lots of projects have to be finished, kinda hectic. Ill try and get some sketches and other more finished work up here when I get the chance to do so, I'm still tinkering with my scanner.

Im back from my first day of college! It was a looong day, but it was decent fun. I hope to make a few friends while im there. Driving home in the dark was a drag though. I thought I was going to die 27 times. I did a few sketches in my spare time. also, i got a new puppy! she is very cute and kinda smelly. Ill try to get a picture up soon.
